Southern California Wedding | Wedgewood at the Orchard

Holland and Seth’s Southern California wedding day was one for the books! They are not just a regular couple, but a COOL couple. The two babes are both super sweet and after spending time with them during their engagements I was looking forward to their wedding day. As a photographer, I LOVE when couples are able to have fun and really take in the day with family and friends. You could tell it meant so much to them to have their people there and they loved them well! The big day was located at Wedgewood at the Orchard in Menifee, California. A super cute outdoor venue with all the fairytale vibes including a gazebo and a tunnel full of fairy lights. The staff is so incredible and makes your entire planning process stress free.

Important Tip: Ceremony Lighting

Holland & I worked together to figure out the best setup for the ceremony that would have the best for lighting. Typically, the ceremony space is at the gazebo, but when it IS at the gazebo, the lighting is horrendous and usually half a side is directly in the sun, while the other half is shaded. After talking with the bride and being honest with the outcome of the images, she made the call to have the ceremony against the greenery wall for even lighting.

I always educate my couples on lighting, specifically with ceremony and I find it helps me in the long run when I give couples a realistic expectation on what their photos will look like. I go over the best time ceremonies should start at their venue. Some venues are hidden in the woods, trees, or are close to mountain ranges causing them to lose light faster. Others are on a hill, have zero trees or obstructions that would block light, and have the most amount of daylight.
