A Dino-mite Engagement Session for Mary & Megan

These two had me at Dinosaur masks! For all my sessions, I always encourage my couples to be as prepared as possible, having outfits planned that represent who they really are, and a location they love or is special to them. These are two of the most important key elements for a session. My desire is that when they look at their photos they see themselves in their truest happiest form, rather than seeming staged or posed. If the session appears effortless, we’re doing something right! Megan and Mary were both a little nervous, as many of us are, to be in front of the camera. Since this was their first time having professional photos taken, I wanted it to be PERFECT for them.

Megan and I had been collaborating on session planning as they had been sending me photos of their outfits, when suddenly, I received a cryptic text from them. “This may be a little weird but we want to bring something to the session…”. I immediately NEEDED to know what they meant, and the *typing* dots appeared, disappeared, and reappeared… the suspense was killing me! *Ding* I received a photo of a velociraptor mask and a text that read, “We really love dinosaurs”. I was SOLD. As a photographer, it is such a joy when I can go into a session KNOWING we are going to have a great time. The day came and we pranced around in high tide, laughing until no sounds came out, and getting soaked by the waves. They threw on their masks and we decided to REALLY make it 1000% worth it; they put on out their Dino claws and formed their stance, running into the waves roaring at one another.
